Janet Kay McCall's Obituary
Janet Kay McCall, 75, of Remus, Michigan, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on December 7, 2025. She was born on February 16, 1950, to Justin Wernette and Violet Stine Wernette. Janet was a proud member of St. Michael’s Parish and attended St. Michael’s School. Janet graduated in 1968 from Chippewa Hills Highschool. As the oldest child—and the only girl—she embraced her role with grace, humor, and a spirited personality.
On June 5, 1970, Janet married the love of her life, Bob McCall, and together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
Janet was incredibly outgoing, known for her warm presence, sharp wit, and her wonderful cooking. She loved tending to her flower beds, playing cards with her granddaughters, and had the unique distinction of never mowing the lawn even once. For many years she was an active member of the Mecosta County Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling with friends.
Dedicated to caring for others, Janet worked as an LPN at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She retired at the age of 60, leaving behind a long legacy of compassion in her nursing career.
Janet is survived by her husband Robert McCall; her children, Shannon McCall, Matt (Jennifer) McCall, and Derrick McCall; Mother Violet Wernette; brothers, Roger, Randy, Denny, and Dar Wernette; and her cherished grandchildren, Allyssia McCall, Lucas Jacob, Violet McCall, Marissa McCall, Lilly McCall, and great grandson Braxton Harper. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Hilda Vansickle, and many, many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Justin Wernette; father-in-law, Robert McCall; her son, Brandon McCall; and her grandchild, Riese Higgins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Corewell Hospice.
A celebration of Janet’s life will take place on December 19, 2025, at the Remus Bowling Center from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. All who knew and loved her are welcome.
