Janet Marie Rathburn's Obituary
Janet Marie Rathburn, age 78, passed away with family by her side, at her home in Lakeview, Michigan, on August 28, 2015. Janet was born August 9, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Gordon and Evelyn (Laubach) Packer.
Janet was raised in Grand Rapids and graduated from Godwin Heights Class of 1955. Janet spent her life caring for other people working with Home Health Care. She was a member of both the Moose Lodge and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cleaning, cooking, baking, and Miller Light.
Janet will be missed by her three daughters Robin Hinton of Grand Rapids, Renee Poirier, and Randi Vandenberg of Lakeview; 7 grandchildren Brad and Shawn Hinton, Angela Odren, Justin Lundberg, Amanda, William, and Sarah Vandenberg; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister Joan Halstead of Sparta; and her very special friend "Jesse" Jesus Alvarez, age 76, whom she met in Grand Rapids over 30 years ago.
Janet was preceded in death by two husbands Doug Benedict and Jerry Rathburn; parents Gordon and Evelyn Packer; and one sister Dixie Hall.
According to Janet's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will have a private gathering at a later date.
