Janet Virginia Peterson's Obituary
Janet Virginia Peterson, age 88 passed away early Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at MidMichiagn Medical Center, Alma. Janet was born January 28, 1928 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the daughter of William and Ella (Hewlett) Swetnam. Janet attended Vanderbilt College for her understudies and continued her education at the University of Michigan receiving her master's degree in education. She worked several years in the Battle Creek School District until she was united in marriage to Lee Peterson on June 21, 1958.
Janet enjoyed golf and horses. She also enjoyed traveling to Mackinaw City; where she had a cottage. Janet was a excellent cook and enjoyed swimming in her younger years. She was extremely involved with her community. Janet was on the board for Mental Health in Stanton, Zoning Commission for Home Township, Edmore's Women's Club, DAR, DAC, and Presidents for several years of the Home Township Library Board.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 58 years; Lee, children; Janet Lynn (Gary Thornsbury) Peterson of Haslett, MI and Robert Jon (Jane Hansen) Peterson of Blanchard, MI, grandchildren; Nathan and Ryan and daughter in-law; Ilene Peterson. Janet was preceded in death by a son; William Lee and her parents.
Graveside Services will take place at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 04, 2016, 2016 from Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore, MI with Pastor Michael Riegler to officiate. A luncheon to follow immediately at the Faith United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers those wishing to do a memorial contribution are asked to consider Faith United Methodist Church or Home Township Library.
