Jason Ian Proefrock's Obituary
Hersey - Jason Ian Proefrock, 41, of Hersey, passed away Saturday May 12, 2018 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
He was born May 6, 1977 in Reed City, the son of Thomas and Linda (Harrison) Proefrock, and graduated from Reed City High School in 1995.  Jason earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems,  and then his Master's Degree in Information Security Systems, both from Ferris State University, graduating in 2009.
Jason began his career at Evart Products, and then at Yoplait in Reed City.  For a brief time, he worked for the Marion and the Wexford- Missaukee School Districts, and then more recently at Ferris State University.
Jason was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Reed City, and the Reed City School Board of Education.  He was an Eagle Scout and a scout leader. Jason loved to give back to the community where he grew up and lived his entire life.  He loved his hometown and the people, "No strangers, just a friend I haven't met yet".
On August 18, 2007, he married Debra Anne Palmieri, who survives.  Also surviving are their son Thomas, whom he adored; his mother Linda of Big Rapids; one sister, Melissa Barnes of MD; three brothers, Jamie of VA, Jeffrey (Jeanne) of Muskegon, and Joshua (Julie) of Rockford; his grandmother Audrey Harrison of  Paris; 5 nieces and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 2008.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Reed City, with Rev. Dawn Pooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashton Cemetery. Jason's family will greet friends at the church on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 4-8 p.m., and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Reed City Food Pantry in his memory.
