Jerry Carlton Behrenwald's Obituary
Lakeview-Jerry Carlton Behrenwald, age 81, of Lakeview passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home on Friday, July 19, 2024. He was born the son of Marvin and Frances (Bates) Behrenwald on August 28, 1942, in Lakeview where he was also raised. Jerry attended Lakeview Schools, graduating with the Class of 1961. He served in the National Guard based in Greenville for 7 years. Jerry was a self-employed farmer for 47 years, during that time he was also employed by Gibsons in Greenville, worked in the logging industry, construction field, and delivered newspapers for the Daily News, The Buyline, and the Big Rapids Pioneer for over 20 years. Jerry married Arlene TenEyck at the Lakeview Free Methodist Church on September 18, 1965. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing stock cars and spending time at the family cabin that he and Arlene built. Above all else Jerry loved his family, cherishing the time they spent together and instilling the bond in his children for generations to come.Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlene Behrenwald of Lakeview; 4 children, George (Pam) Behrenwald of Stanton, Fran (Jeff) Wood of Six Lakes, Sherry (James) Bartlett of Lakeview, JC (Brandi) Behrenwald of Lakeview; 11 grandchildren, Kris Behrenwald, Kasandra (Mike) Mapes, Jacob Behrenwald, Jared Behrenwald, Ashley (Ben) Covey, Brittany (Ryan) Busscher, Chelsey (Jay) Williams, Danelle Wood (Bailey), Ben Behrenwald, Cece Behrenwald, Mia Bartlett; 7 great-grandchildren, Colton, Taylor, Brailee, Waylon, Ayden, Liam, Hayes; sister, Donna Cole; brothers, Bob (Tina) Behrenwald, Charlie (Mary) Behrenwald, Richard Olsen; his best friend and constant companion, Charley the dog; nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his son, Leroy Behrenwald in 1999; parents, Marvin and Lee Behrenwald, Frances and Don Olsen; and brother, Bobbie Olsen.A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Dave Hansen officiating. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
