Jesus "Jesse" Martin Solis' Obituary
Big Rapids - Jesus (Jesse) Martin Solis, age 49, of Big Rapids, peacefully entered into eternal life on February 10, 2015. He was born on June 19, 1965 in Mercedes, TX to Mike Jr. and Elena (Chapa) Solis who preceded him in death. In 1973 the family moved to Michigan and Jesse attended Big Rapids High School. Jesse loved restoring cars and worked in the auto body repair field for many years. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, cooking, fishing, arm wrestling, and making people laugh. Warm weather, barbecue's, family and friends around the fire pit on a cool evening, and laying on the trampoline watching the stars brought him many happy moments. Throughout his journey, Jesse welcomed many people who seemed less fortunate into his life. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Jennifer (O'Neil) Solis, whom he met in 1985 at the Mecosta County Fair, and their sons, Justin Solis, Sgt Joseph Solis, US Army, James Solis, Jacob Solis and Jack Solis. Jesse is also survived by his siblings Miquel (Tammy) Solis. Marisa (Hugh Roberts) Solis, Marcos (Elizabeth) Solis, David (Mary Margaret Montes) Solis, John Solis; his grandchildren Marina and Francisco Tift; his father- and mother-in-law Wayne and Betty O'Neil; in-laws Sue and Carmen Bean, Mark O'Neil, and Eric O'Neil; and several nieces and nephews and all those who loved him and called him Pops. Visitation for friends and family to celebrate Jesse's life will be held at the Mohnke Funeral Home on Friday, February 13th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 14th at 11:00 am. at the funeral home, with his cousin, Pastor John Morris officiating. Spring burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Jesse's name may be made for the Veterans Homefront Heroes Memorial Park in Big Rapids, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
