Joan Kay Williamson's Obituary
Stanwood - Joan Kay Williamson, 75, of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at her residence. She was born July 3, 1942, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Percy and Isabel (Secore) Churchill, and lived in the area most of her life. Joan attended St. Peter's Lutheran School, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1960. For many years, Joan worked as a C.N.A. at Metron of Big Rapids. She was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the V.F.W. On July 8, 1961, she married Calvin Williamson, Sr., who preceded her in death on January 18, 2015. Joan is survived by 5 children, Julie (Kenneth) Gilchrist, Donna Keech, Sharon Williamson, Calvin Williamson, Jr., and Richard (Debra) Williamson; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her sister Jean (Norm) West; several nieces and nephews; and those that also knew her as Mom and Grandma. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Sandra. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Mecosta Township Hall on 11 Mile Road in Rogers Height. Memorial contributions in her name may be left at the funeral home, where her family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
