Joan Zimmerman's Obituary
Edmore- Joan Zimmerman, age 86, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at her home in Edmore, Michigan. Joan was born on January 27, 1935 in Petoskey to Raymond and Delores (Bailey) Houts. Joan grew up in Petoskey and graduated from the public schools of Petoskey in 1954. Soon after graduating she attended beauty school in Detroit, Michigan where she became a licensed beautician. Joan operated a beauty shop out of her home for 42 years before retiring in 1997. Joan married Clyde Zimmerman on August 2, 1958 in Boyne City. They were married for nearly 60 years before his passing in 2018. Over the years Joan loved to spend time maintaining her beautiful gardens, sewing, crocheting and reading. Joan was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and loved her church family.
Joan is survived by her children, Jim Zimmerman of Edmore, daughter-in-law, Diane Zimmerman of Vestaburg, Tracey Ingle of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Jamie (Jordan) Kinsey, Jessica McCray, James (Kristen) Zimmerman, Cai Fei (Jennie Shen), Ashley Zimmerman; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Houts, sister, Sally (Carl) May, brothers-in-law, Henry (Alice) Zimmerman, Bill Zimmerman; sister-in-law Mary Ann Baker, Norma Johnnecheck, and her close friends Jeff and Connie Hansen.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband Clyde, infant daughter Janie; both parents Raymond and Delores; sister, Joyce Lyons; parents- in-law, Henry Zimmerman, Mary Brown; sister-in-law Bernadine DeBaene.
A Private funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Edmore on Tuesday March 2, 2021. Please send flowers or cards to:
