John was born March 7, 1954 in Lansing, MI, the son of John and Phyllis (Lobert) Richmond. He found beauty in the simple things, such as the intricate details in a leaf, rock or old stump. In his youth he made a lot of small detailed ships and aircraft, which he used to check the accuracy of his aim, usually on his younger siblings.
John was a very crafty person in the arts; from painting ships, landscapes, and fairy tale creatures, to paper Mache in the likes of a big green “D.O.G.”. He always had plenty of good ideas and once stated that he was waiting for the “ideal” day to accomplish them all.
His humor, was that of a frog, with a big grin, wink of one eye, and a quick tung. He often left you wondering if you were just eaten or released for the joy to be snagged up again. And always with a delivery that was on course with a sideways detour ending.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara; father, John Richmond II; son, Richard; step-daughters, Mary (Gary) Reeves, and Julie (Eric) Nikirk; step-son, Dewey (Michelle) Bigford; brother, Craig (Kelly); sisters, Julie ( John) Mayer, Tammy (Chuck) Foster, and Kim (Bob) Knight, and 11 grandchildren.
Sadly, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna, and two children, John IV, and Katherine and mother Phyllis (Lobert) Richmond.
