Lakeview - John Jonas Sharp Jr, age 76, of Remus passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 17, 2019. John was born October 12, 1942, in Remus, the son of John Furnside Joseph and Augusta Caroline (Kutchinski) Sharp. John was raised on the family farm in Remus before moving to Eagle and Portland. John graduated from Chippewa High School Class of 1961.
He was an agricultural farmer most of his life and was employed by Motor Wheel in Lansing making metal drums over 20 years. Upon retirement, John settled back at his family's farm.
John loved to fly airplanes, portraying the Lone Ranger, watching classical old movies, helping the Amish, eating out, always rescuing stray animals, and spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Augusta Sharp; Aunt Toots Kutchinski, Aunt Erma (Jim) Kutchinski, and Uncle Tom Sharp. He will be deeply missed by his children Lisa Sharp of Lakeview, Tina Sharp of Remus, and Angel (Greg) Kraft of Lansing; grandchildren Matthew (Ryanna) Reynolds, Sarah (Rich) Toth, Christopher (Amber) Sharp, Andrew Cole, Nicholas Cole, Alyssa Petersen, Nathan LaForge, and Dylan and Kyle Lumbert; great-grandchildren Elijah, Rhilynn, Allison, Christopher Jr., and Ember; and several friends.
Graveside services for John will be held Friday, April 19, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Wambold Cemetery in Remus, MI with Pastor Ted Johnson officiating.
