John K Snyder's Obituary
John K. Snyder, age 63, of Vestaburg, MI, went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2016 at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant, MI. He was born November 27, 1953, the son of Royal Allen and Ophia Elizabeth (Sevits) Snyder.
He was raised in La Plata, Puerto Rico. He attended Goshen College for two years and was employed as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan for over 30 years until his retirement in 2012. On January 10, 1977, John married Doris Florinda Antunez in San Estaban Olancho, Honduras.
Jonny enjoyed partnering with Doris in the Greenhouse for 35 years. He loved music. He loved his kids, and grandkids, and spending time with them. In his later years, he served as a missionary through Community Bible Study International to Honduras and Central America.
John was a member of the Crystal Lake Church of the Brethren where he led worship and was avidly involved.
John will be deeply missed by his wife Doris Snyder of Vestaburg; mother Ophia Snyder; his children Cherri Bornman of Vestaburg, Ryan Snyder of Harrisburg, PA, and Gina Spiekerman of Vestaburg; grandchildren Abigail, Rebecca, and Jaelle Bornman of Vestaburg, Ryan and Sierra Snyder of Harrisburg, PA, Kenidee and Seth Spiekerman of Vestaburg; siblings Victor Snyder of Puerto Rico, Betsy, Danny, and Diane Snyder of Vestaburg; many friends and church family.
John was preceded in death by his father Royal Snyder, and his son John Roy Snyder.
A candlelit celebration of John's life will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Ferris Church of Christ in Vestaburg, MI, with Pastor Jason Engle officiating. Dinner and visitation will take place before the service, starting at 5:00 pm, all at the church.
