John G. Thielen's Obituary
Age 54, of Blanchard, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at his home surrounded by family. A funeral Mass will be held in his honor Saturday, April 5th, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Remus, at 11:00am. Fr. Aaron Ferris will officiate with burial to follow at Sherman City Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hansen Janowicz Funeral Home in Remus Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00pm with a Rosary service at 7:00pm.
John was born March 25, 1960 in Mt. Pleasant, MI, the son of Marcellus and Francis (Wilson) Thielen. He earned his Associates degree in Architectural Technology, and worked as a dedicated plumber for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 174 for many years before retiring in 2012.
Some of his hobbies and interests would include snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and boating, but most of all NASCAR.
Words used to describe John were easy-going, funny, affectionate, loving, devoted, and proud.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 11 years, Cynthia; children, Sara (John) Hammond, Abby Thielen (Steve Hazel), Cole Thielen, and Jennifer Morrison; brothers, Gerald (Joan) Thielen, Joe Thielen, Donald (Joan) Thielen, and Richard Thielen; and sisters, MaryAnn Judge, Marcella (Dave) Sharrar, and Catherine (Rodger) Whiting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Betty Woodbury.
