John Ray Wright's Obituary
Big Rapids - John Ray Wright "Jack", age 87, of Big Rapids, went to be with his Lord, Monday, October 31, 2016. Jack was born in Detroit on May 19, 1929, the son of George and Rose (Lavallee) Wright. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and a lifetime member of the Big Rapids VFW Post 4102. Jack retired after 39 years at Wolverine World Wide. In June of 1953, Jack was married to Roberta Hoffman. He will be greatly missed by his wife; their children, Ricky Wright of Hudsonville, Scott Wright, Denise Frye, Dianna (Jerry) Frye, Deb (Bill Spicer) Wright; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and sister, Florence Elliot. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Reverend Charles Hewlett officiating. Burial will be in the Whipple Cemetery in Newaygo County. Jack's family will greet friends at the funeral home from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, and prior to services on Thursday. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for the Big Rapids AmVets Post 1941, and may be left in care of the funeral home.
