Joseph F. Levandoski's Obituary
Joseph F. Levandoski, O.D. age 78, of Remus, peacefully passed away Sunday, January 18th at Woodland Hospice with family by his side. A funeral mass will be held in his honor Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Aaron Ferris as Celebrant. Visitation will be held at Hansen Janowicz Funeral Home in Remus on Tuesday, January 20th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a scripture service at 7:30 PM, and again on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to the time of service at church.
Joseph was born in Remus, MI November 7, 1936, the son of Edward and Nellie (Tafelski) Levandoski. After being locally educated, he went on to college to become a doctor of optometry. For many years Joseph ran his own practice in Lakeview and Reed City. During those years, he became very active within his community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club. Joseph thoroughly enjoyed hanging with “the guys,” playing poker and bowling, and was known to win his fair share of money on those nights. He loved hunting, playing cards, gardening and the Chicago Cubs. But above all, he loved his children. Those who knew Joseph best will miss his caring and loving nature, stubbornness, occasional not so stylish clothing choices and his contagious laugh.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Nicola Gilpin, Terra Levandoski and Garth Levandoski (Denise Peruski). Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Levandoski and his beloved dogs, Primus and Wilson.
Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Animal Rescue Coalition of Mecosta County or to Woodland Hospice in Lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
