Joseph Louis Nielson's Obituary
Lakeview-Joseph Louis Nielson, age 53, passed away at his home in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. He was born at Fort Benning, GA on April 14, 1968, the son of Richard and Judith (Moore) Nielson. He started school in the Fenton area before the family moved to Lakeview where he attended Brockway Christian Academy. He graduated from Lakeview High School in the top 10 of his class of 1986. Joseph continued his education at Ferris State University and Grand Valley State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting. He was self-employed most of his life as an accountant, chef, and general contractor. Joseph was hard working and passionate, determined to succeed at any project he was working on. He loved cooking, watching movies, playing keyboard, singing, sunshine, and classical music. One of his favorite memories was having a role in the Nutcracker Ballet. Joseph had a passion for learning about, and making friends from different cultures, namely Cambodia, Iran, and Japan. To this day, he found peace spending time feeding and caring for the horses at his parents' home. Joseph attended Resurrection Life Church in Grandville, where he was a member of the choir. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but in the words of his favorite singer Sarah Brightman song, "Time to Say Goodbye".
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Adara Jade Nielson; parents, Richard and Judith of Lakeview; brother, Joshua L. Nielson of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Holly K. (Andrew) Paris of Canadian Lakes; and niece, Liliana Nielson of Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Ardeth Moore and Louis and Margaret Nielson; and by his beloved friend, Seth Khem.
A private graveside service will take place at Altona Cemetery.
