Josephine A. Wiest's Obituary
Big Rapids - Josephine Kramer Wiest, 89, of Big Rapids passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014. "Jodi" was born on August 17, 1925 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Montante) DeFrank. She married Richard Neil Kramer in 1949. They had five sons; Marcus, Geoffry, Warren, Byron, and Quentin. In 1959 the Kramer family moved to Big Rapids. Richard died in an automobile accident in 1961. For many years Jodi enjoyed teaching in the public school and at Ferris State University. She also enjoyed performing in Stage M productions of plays and musicals. In 1979, she married Opie Wiest. Jodi is survived by her husband; sons, Geoffry (Michelle), Warren (Ruth), Byron, Quentin (Marian) Kramer, Kathy (Dave) Soper, Jeff (Nancy) Wiest, Debbie (Tom) Shereda, and Trish (Mike) Fraser; fifteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Huck and Lucille (Jim) Powers. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Marcus, a Vietnam Veteran who died in 1975; and a grandson, Clayton Kramer. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Fellowship Christian Reformed Church in Big Rapids with Pastor Ken Krause officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 29, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Mohnke Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Stage M. Burial will take place at Pine Plains Cemetery.
