Joyce Thelma Jones' Obituary
Joyce Thelma Jones age 89, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at her home in Lakeview, Michigan with family at her side. Joyce was born August 26, 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Harry and Daisy (Veen) Hanson. Joyce attended Alma Schools and graduated in 1944; she then went on to college and earning her degree as a Registered Nurse. Joyce worked many years in the obstetrics; which she loved.
Joyce was an avid seamstress and quilter; she claimed she was born with a needle in her hand. She volunteered for the Red Bird Mission, in KY. Joyce was also a member of New Life United Methodist Church in Lakeview, MI. But most of all Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
Joyce is survived by her children; Carol (Walter) Enyart of Lakeview, MI, Dianne (Willard) Duran of Big Rapids, David (Terri) Jones of Bristow, VA, Daniel (Kay) Jones of Gowen, MI and Darlene Sher of Lakeview, MI, grandchildren; Renee Jones of Harrison, MI, Melody (Stanley) Chappell of Saginaw, MI, Chris Sher of Lakeview, MI, Jill Duran of Big Rapids, MI, Kristi (Matt) Swanson of VA, Robbie Marek of Lakeview, MI, Ashli (Chris) Suprise of VA, Becky (Matt) Jones of Lakeview, MI, Elle (Ben) Koehler of Blanchard, MI and Nick Sher of Lakeview, MI, great-grandchildren; Alex Jones of Lakeview, MI, Vanessa Ebel of Greenville, MI, Hunter Schmelz of Lakeview, MI, Blake Marek of Morley, MI, Jacoby and Parker Koehler of Blanchard, MI, Wesley and Carli Swanson of VA and Victoria Suprise of VA, brothers; Fred Hanson of DeWitt, MI and Dale (Kathy) Hanson of Indian River, MI and son in-law; Lynn (Caren) Chappell of Harrison, MI. Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a daughter; Mary Ellen Chappell, brother and sister in-law; Carl (Mary Lee) Hanson, sister in-law; Virginia Hanson and sister and brother in-law; Ruth (Ralph) Detwiller.
Funeral Services for Joyce will take place Monday, October 5, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the New Life United Methodist Church, 6584 W. Howard City-Edmore Rd., Six Lakes, MI 48886 . Visitation will also take place at the church on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Red Bird Mission or to any breast cancer research.
