Joyce Marie Newman's Obituary
Big Rapids - Joyce Marie (Turner) Newman, 72, of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital.
She was born August 30, 1949, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Viola (Ward) Turner, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1967.
Joyce worked for over 20 years at Kmart in Big Rapids, a few years at Sunoco Trailside, and then retired from Fluid Routing Solutions. She was a long-time member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Joyce enjoyed bird watching, reading the Pioneer, doing crossword puzzles, but most of all loved spending time with family.
Joyce is survived by her children, Lisa (Jeff) Vander Klipp of Rockford, Jennifer (Mike) Stevens of Big Rapids, Andy (Cheryl) Taylor of Chippewa Lake, Carol Sutton of Big Rapids, and Brent (Jerilyn) Taylor of Paris; 15 grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Metzger, Joe Metzger, Chad Cady, Joshua Stevens, April (Zach) Griffin, Courtney, Ashley, and Sarah Taylor, Jamie, Grace, and Autumn Sutton, Dalton and Mason Taylor, Ben (Rachael) Vander Klipp, and Nick Vander Klipp; 5 great-grandchildren, Paige Metzger, Paisley and Jace Cooper, Nicholas Peterson, and Mairyn Griffin; her sister Jane Grzybowski; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Janet Taylor and Jon and Marilyn Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her life partner Richard Taylor, her parents, sister Carol Kelsch, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Margaret Taylor.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Joyce's family will greet friends at the funeral home today (Tuesday, June 21) from 4-8 p.m., and prior to services on Wednesday.
