Juanita R. Benson's Obituary
Big Rapids Juanita Ruth Benson, 88, of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born July 16, 1920, in Big Rapids, one of nine children, the daughter of Will and Faun (Marvel) Totten. Juanita was a long time seamstress with Fashion Industries and a homemaker. She has been retired for the past 40 years. She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, and loved to travel. Spending several years in Florida during the winters. Juanita is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Harold Benson; 2 sons, Dick (Kim) Lintemuth of Grand Rapids and Roger (Jean) Lintemuth of Mount Pleasant; 7 grandchildren, Rich (Karen) Lintemuth of Virginia, Matt (Beth) Lintemuth and Tarin Lintemuth of Grand Rapids, Lynde (fianc Bryan Herzbach) Lintemuth of New York, Alan Lintemuth of Arizona, Steven Long of California, and Chadd Long of Grand Rapids; great-granddaughter, Megan Lintemuth; 2 sisters, Evelyn Dunn of Big Rapids and Elsie Lamarr (Russ) Grosbeck of Florida; brother, Meredith (Sue) Totten of Big Rapids; sisters-in-law, Blanche Totten of Florida, Shirley Totten of Mount Pleasant, and Dorothy Benson of Cadillac; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Sharon Lynn Benson, sisters, Maxine Howard and Betty Lintemuth, brothers, Thurman Totten, John Totten and Kenneth Totten, and brother-in-law, Otto Benson. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Michael Riegler officiating. Burial will be in the Hungerford Cemetery. Memorial contributions for the Third Avenue Methodist Church or In House Hospice 4403 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546, envelopes may be left at the funeral home, where Juanitas family will greet friends on Friday (Today) from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and after 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
