Judith Elaine Jensen's Obituary
Big Rapids-Judith Elaine Jensen, 77, died Monday, May 8, 2017. She was born September 2, 1940 to Harry and Lina Dress in Muskegon, Michigan. She moved to Big Rapids in 1949 where she spent the rest of her life. She graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1958 and attended nursing school at Butterworth Hospital where she graduated as a registered nurse. Judy married Albert (Pete) Jensen in 1961 and together they had three children, who survive her: Chris and wife Julie of Big Rapids, Eric and wife Kristi of Hudsonville, and Nancy Jensen Biery and husband Matt of Kenmore, Washington.Judy is also survived by her sister Doreen Runk of San Diego, brothers George Larson of Millbrook, Roger (Melinda) Larson of Silver City, NM, and eight grandchildren; Ryan Jensen, Aaron Jensen, Cara Jensen, Zachary Jensen, Drew Jensen, Delaney Jensen, Jacob Biery, and Maxwell Biery.Judy passionately and faithfully served as a registered nurse for Mecosta County General Hospital and several family practices in Big Rapids for 40 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was involved in many ministries, including the voice and bell choirs, a founding member of Parish Nurse, and many service committees. She was a past member of the Junior Women's Club, pedro club, bridge club, West Avenue Birthday club, and the bicycle club.Judy enjoyed her retirement years travelling with her husband Pete, caring for and supporting their grandchildren through all their activities, and sharing time with friends and family. She was a gifted crafts person, seamstress, gardener, and cook.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Big Rapids or the Spectrum Health-Big Rapids Hospital Auxiliary.Funeral services for Judy will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Big Rapids with Pastor Becky Morrison officiating and interment will be at West Cemetery,Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Mohnke Funeral Home.
