Judy Anne Beardslee's Obituary
Judith Anne (Judy) Beardslee, 79, of Lakeview, MI, passed away December 1, 2020.
Judy was born January 13, 1941 in Breckenridge, TX, the daughter of Cecil D. Cunningham and Winona Littleton; stepfather Edd Welton Chambers.
She graduated in 1959 from Lakeview High School and on December 12, 1959 married John W. Beardslee (deceased) at the First Congregational Christian Church in Lakeview, Ml.
Judy is survived by her children John E. (Sue) Beardslee of Cody, WY; Julie (Kevin Kalbfleisch) Taylor of Greenville, MI; Jennifer Johnson of Greenville; grandchildren James Miller of Lakeview, Joey Beardslee of Grand Rapids, Ml, and Katie Beardslee of Golden, CO; sister Diane McCoy of Stephenville, TX; great-grandchildren Valeree Miller and Blake Miller. She also had a daughter, Jana Beardslee-Proulx, who is deceased.
Also deceased are her sister Cecilia Bruton and brother Jerry Chambers.
Judy spent her childhood living in various cities in Texas and New Mexico, moving frequently due to her stepfather's employment. It was during her high school years, while her stepfather was working in Michigan, that she met her husband, John. They were wed, after which they made a home in Lakeview and raised four children.
A homemaker by trade, Judy was kept busy with the
children, each born five years apart. With Judy her kids always came first and she made sure they never went without. She never missed a parent-teacher conference and she attended
every sporting event in which one of her children was a participant.
She was exceedingly generous and took great delight in giving to others, never asking for anything in return.
Among Judy's great joys in life was her trio of friends, Faye, Pat and Jane. The four of them frequently conversed on the telephone and would gather for informal get-togethers.
Judy was instrumental in helping raise James, her first grandchild. She provided after-school childcare most days and provided support and encouragement to him in innumerable ways over the years. She attended grandparent's days at the school and was an integral part of James' daily life all the way through adulthood.
When two more grandchildren joined the family, she couldn't have been prouder of them.
Judy spent the past several months at Lakeview Terrace Assisted Living. She struggled with the progression of dementia and COVID restrictions which prevented in person visits from Julie, Jennifer and other family and friends. Her passing on December 1 came within hours of being two years to the day of John's passing on December 2, 2018. Her December 12 funeral services will be on their 61st wedding anniversary.
Judy will be deeply missed and remembered always by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a. m., Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Brigham Funeral Home in Lakeview. Visitation will be from 10-11 a. m. prior to the service.
Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www. alz. org.
