Julia Eveline Pierce's Obituary
Big Rapids- Julia Eveline Pierce, 94, of Big Rapids formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away in Florida on Monday, March 21, 2011. She was born on March 1, 1917 in Wexford County, Michigan, the daughterof Alva and Beulah (Oatley) Burroughs. She graduated from Mesick High School. She had been a homemaker and child care provider. Julia had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant and upon moving to Big Rapids attended Trinity Fellowship Church. She is survived by four daughters, Salley Pierce, Vernita Burrows, Deanna Pierce all of Big Rapids, and Norann (Al) Buckland of Mt. Pleasant, three grandchildren; Rob Buckland, Todd (Christina) Burrows and Leigh (Jim) Ruffner; three great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Leonard Pierce and Al Kumm, sister-in-law, Peggy Pierce, plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. Julia was preceded in death by Norman D. Pierce, her husband of 66 years, five brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Julia will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Dr. Gary deBock officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Fellowship Church or a Hospice Organization of your choice.
