Obituary
Lakeview - Julia Jane (Tift) Rentschler, age 92, of Lakeview, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Lakeview Terrace Assisted Living Facility, with family by her side. Julia was born on December 23, 1929, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Harry and Hilda Tift. She was raised in the Big Rapids area and attended Big Rapids Public Schools. Julia married George Rentschler Jr., the love of her life for 71 years, on January 6, 1951, outdoors in front of the judge's home. She enjoyed cooking, making pies, canning, picking raspberries and strawberries, making meals, gardening. She was a home maker and loved her family. Julia attended the Langston Church.
Julia is survived in death by her husband, George Rentschler Jr. of Lakeview; children, Eugene (Johanna) Rentschler of Lakeview, Dallas (Christine) Rentschler of Kentwood, Denise (Don) Schneider of Lowell, Karen Fagerman of Rockford; grandchildren, Trevor (Emily) Rentschler, Hayden Rentschler, Jennifer Rentschler, Bradley (Nydia) Rentschler, Amanda (Adam) Bowers, Allison (Ryan) Sikorski, Amber Schneider, Cody (Tina) Fagerman; great-grandchildren, Noah, Tensley, Graham, Isaiah, Caleb, Levi, Cole, Micah; siblings, Louise Rehkopf of Big Rapids, Vera Retzloff of Paris, and Lawrence Tift of Flint; several nieces, nephews, and church family.
Julia is preceded in death by one stillborn daughter, Sharon Lynn Rentschler; parents Harry and Hilda Tift; one brother Claud Tift; siblings-in-law, Earl Rehkopf, and Edward Retzloff.
Funeral services for Julia will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. The family will accept friends on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview and on Thursday, February 17, 2022 starting at 10:00 a.m. at the church. A luncheon will be held, following graveside services in Cato Twp. Cemetery, at the church. Condolences to the family may be made utilizing the guestbook at www.brighamfuneralchapel.com
