Julie C. Kellogg-Mortensen's Obituary
Julie Kellogg-Mortensen, 51, passed away on February 28, 2026, in Lakeview, Michigan.
Julie was born on November 19, 1974, in Tacoma, Washington, to Jerry Kellogg and Lee Kellogg-Wood. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1993 and went on to attend Alma College, graduating in 1997.
Julie continued her education at Seattle University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2000 was admitted to the Washington State Bar. In 2001, she completed a clerkship for Justice Susan Owens of the Washington State Supreme Court.
Julie was passionate about her service to children and families involved in the child welfare system. She remained a lawyer until her death.
Julie returned to Michigan and reconnected with friends and family, attending family events she missed while living far away. Julie loved role-playing games, genealogy, and miniature interior design.
Above all else, Julie treasured time with her son Lane.
Julie is survived by her son Lane Mortensen (Evart, MI), her mother Lee Wood, Jerry and Jacque Kellogg, sisters: Teresa (Greg) Gach, Lisa Arnold, Pam Sparks (friend Ira Lockshin) and Jill (Bryan) Dole, and many nieces, nephews, and blended family members. She is preceded in death by her husband Terrill Mortensen and her step father, Jim Wood.
