Karen Lee DeLong's Obituary
Karen Lee DeLong, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away April 22, 2015 at her home, with family by her side. A memorial ceremony will be held in her honor Saturday, April 25th, at 12 Noon, at the Sylvester Community Church. Pastor Richard Taylor will officiate with a luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will be held Friday, April 24th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus.
Karen was born December 6, 1955, the daughter of Max and Alma (Esch) Lenon. She worked for Chippewa Hills for 27 years and was loved by all the children who knew her as “King Kong DeLong”. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and socializing at her house. Everyone always knew they were welcome in her home and that they would never leave on an empty stomach. She was known to be the life of the party and had a cackle that let you know if she was in the same crowded room as you. Family and friends were the center of her world and it was easy to see. She always looked forward to the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas when she would cook and entertain for her entire family. She loved her grandchildren more than anything and was known to be a very giving person.
Loving, bubbly, accepting, friendly, comforting, giving, and an incredible woman were all words used to describe Karen.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 43 years, Ed; two sons, Cory (Shasta) DeLong and Tom (Audrea) DeLong; sisters, Char Lenon (Roger Orvis) and Chris (Fred) Kuebler; grandchildren, Grace, Nora, Esch, Courtney and Keiton, and many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Sylvester Community Church (4954 Spruce St., Mecosta, MI 49332) in memory of Karen. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at church.
