Karen I. Smania's Obituary
Big Rapids - Karen I. Smania, 74, of Big Rapids went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 14, 2015. She was born on June 25, 1941 in LaSalle, Illinois the daughter of Ivan A. and Lorraine R. (Kelsey) Haas. Karen loved to sew and garden. She had done costuming for Stage M. She was a long time member of St. Paul's Chapel and volunteered at local schools. m.Karen is survived by Peter Smania, her husband of 56 years, two sons, Jim (Mary) Smania of Dewitt, MI and Ron Smania of Big Rapids, three grandchildren; Lindsay (Adam) Zeeb, Matt Smania and Megan Smania, plus two great grandchildren, twins, Leah and Aubrey Zeeb. Also surviving is one brother Frank (Susan) Haas, plus several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Mary Haas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at St. Paul Campus Parish in Big Rapids with Fr. Michael Burt officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm.
