Karl Lee Verrill's Obituary
Karl L. Verrill, 69, of Big Rapids, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
He was born on August 15, 1956, in Big Rapids, the son of Dale and Betty [Walters] Verrill. After graduating from Morley-Stanwood High School in 1974, Karl received an associate’s degree in electronics from Ferris State College. He worked for Dresser Industries, and Central Michigan University, ultimately retiring from Ferris State
University Telecommunication Department.
Karl married the love of his life, Sonjia [Peterson], on June 19, 1976, and they made their home in Big Rapids. Together, they share children Kathryn (Nick), Nicholas, and Joshua.
He had an amazing likeness to MacGyver and Inspector Gadget, talented at fixing/repairing most anything. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
There will not be a public service and, at Karl’s request, he will be cremated. The family will return him to this earth at the family farm in Big Rapids.
Care and arrangements are entrusted to Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
