Katherine V. Rolston's Obituary
Big Rapids - Katherine V. Rolston, 94, of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Spectrum Health Reed City Extended Care Facility.
She was born October 30, 1923, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Edwin and Katherine (Meeker) Brown. On November 6, 1943, she married Kenneth C. Rolston, and lived in the area her entire life. Katherine's life centered around caring for her elderly parents, raising her five children, and being a loving grandmother and aunt. She was a member of the Country Janes Extension in Rodney.
Katherine is survived by four children, Betty Johansen of Big Rapids, Kenneth of Evart, Thomas (Verna) of Sylvester, and Katherine (Dennis) Lattimore of Rodney; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Wendy Rolston of Reed City; and several nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1975, a son Robert, a son-in-law Ed Johansen, her brothers James Nostrant and Edward Brown, and her sister Genevieve Zerlaut.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor David Westover officiating. Spring burial will be in the Davenport Cemetery in Barton Township. Katherine's family will greet friends at the funeral home after 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for the Activities Department at the Reed City Extended Care Facility, or Hospice of Michigan, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
