Kathleen Theresa Blackburn's Obituary
Big Rapids - Kathleen Theresa (Martin) Blackburn, 48, of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017. She was born October 23, 1968, in Manchester, CT, the daughter of Clifton and Kathleen (Edgar) Martin, and graduated from high school in Havre, Montana in 1986. In 1989, she married Howard Blackburn, and they moved to Big Rapids in 1997. Katie was currently employed in sales with the Pioneer Group of Big Rapids and she was very active with Stage-M. She enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets, and loved reading and a "proper cup of tea". Katie is survived by her three sons, Spc. Aaron (Emily), U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Drum, NY, Benjamin and Callum of Big Rapids; their father Howard Blackburn of Grand Rapids; her parents of Missoula, MT; siblings Christeen Maddi of Medford, OR, James Martin and Judith Martin of Missoula, Ewan Martin of San Diego, CA, Alice (Derrek) Larson, and Tim Martin-Bramsen (John) of Missoula; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Katie was preceded in death by her brother Clifton Martin III. A celebration of Katie's life will be 5:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Jerena Keys officiating. Katie's family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for Stage-M or the Special Olympics, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
