Kathleen Marie Roberts' Obituary
Kathleen Marie (Gyurnek) Roberts, age 78, of Riverdale, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Kathy was born in Alma on May 28, 1945, to Louis and Roseann (Kunkel) Gyurnek. She was raised in Alma until the family eventually moved to Sumner. Kathy graduated from Alma High School with the Class of 1965. She met Douglas Roberts a short time later and the two were married on April 17, 1967, in St. Louis. Together they had two children, Kenneth, and Teresa. Kathy was employed by Coney Island in Alma, Alma Public Schools, and later Soaring Eagle Casino. For many years she was a homemaker as well. In her younger years, Kathy went dancing with her family every weekend. Many nights were spent at the Moose Lodge doing the polka with her daddy. Kathy loved country western music and watching western movies. Doug and Kathy owned horses for years and she enjoyed riding, especially her horse Timmy. She sold Tri Chem paints and enjoyed velvet painting. You might find Kathy watering the flowers, watching hummingbirds, or feeding the birds in the summertime. She also collected Disney and Shirley Temple movies along with many other things. Kathy's greatest pride and joy were her grandkids, who she spent a lot of time with as they grew up. Kathy is survived by her husband, Doug; children, Kenneth, and Teresa; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose, Phylis, Carol, and Mary; brother, Frank; several nieces, nephews, and family friends. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn; and an infant brother. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Pine River Recreation Club with Pastor Steve Roberts officiating. Those wishing to donate in Kathleen's memory are asked to consider the needs of the family.
