Kathy Luanne Bricker's Obituary
Kathy L. Bricker (Maybee), 68 of Stanton, Michigan
Your life was a
Blessing
your memory a
Treasure
You are Loved
Beyond words
and Missed
beyond measure
With immense sorrow, we announce that our treasured and beloved mother, Kathy L. Bricker, age 68, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on October 13th, 2021, after a sudden illness and stay at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was surrounded in love by, according to her, the greatest accomplishments of her life- children, Jennifer, Missy and Travis along with the immense and loving support of Spectrum Health Hospice.
She was born to the late Robert and Neva Maybee on September 28, 1953, in Alma, Michigan. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Brady of Belding, Missy Stewart (Dave Keselring) of Cedar Springs, Travis (Sharon) Rasmussen of Arlington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Chelsea Baüer, AJ Baüer, Breanne (Jacob) Rowley, Morgan (Kaleb) Dockter, Keyanna (Austin) Rauch, Cheyenne Rasmussen (Travis Hurley), Anthony Stewart and Stone Stewart; great grandchildren Adelyn Lowden, Avery Rowley, Waylon Rauch, Ameliah Rowley, Elliot Hurley, Willow Sands, Amelia Rauch, Hazel Dockter, Aries Lowden, & August Rowley; siblings Barbara (Bobbi) Platt of Kansas City, Kansas, Sharon Maybee of Carson City, Douglas (Linda) Maybee of Hubbardston and Sandra (Orval) Keeler of Stanton; several nieces and nephews, lifelong friends Yvonne Brigham and Becky Randall, daughter in law, Shannon Rasmussen of Battle Creek along with close friend/caregiver, Ellen Wilson and her biggest confidants- her prized cats, Daisy and Zoe.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Allene, and exceptionally close friends Miss Carol Moss and Don Wallace.
She was a dedicated lifelong fan of General Hospital, enjoyed a great cup of coffee, watching old westerns, the Golden Girls, the smell of Ysatis perfume, camping, bird watching, card games, playing Yahtzee but most of all cooking and discussing politics until the wee morning hours with her daughter Jennifer, an immeasurable and undying bond with her daughter, Missy where words were not needed to understand each other, sharing a coded wink with her son, Travis in order to say "I love you", playing Animal Crossing and dancing of any sorts but especially to Achy Breaky Heart with all of her grandchildren. Her greatest title was being known as Mommy Moo, a name given by her oldest grandchild, Chelsea Nicole which carried through to her great grandchildren whom she adored and rose to any occasion to see.
There will be a private Moments and Memories gathering for immediate family and close friends only. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her name to Spectrum Health Hospice or Atrio Home Health, both Grand Rapids, Michigan organizations who played a vital role in her care over the past six months.
We are comforted to know our mother would want us and anyone who knew her, to understand and know the Lord, to forgive always, to accept those for who they are not who you want them to be and to live life courageously, love deeply, have a shot of Kahlua and you better DANCE!
These would be her final words of advice to all who knew and loved her!
As I sit in heaven and watch you every day,
I try to let you know with signs I never went away.
I hear you when you're laughing and watch you as you sleep.
I even place my arms around you to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home.
So I try to send you signs so you know you are not alone.
Don't feel guilty that you have life that was denied to me.
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So, live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free.
Then I know with every breath you take
You'll be taking one for me.
