Katie Lee Davis-Witherspoon's Obituary
Katie Lee Davis-Witherspoon , 71, of Big Rapids, passed away on January 30 surrounded by friends and family at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital , after a recent illness. Katie was born on July 4, 1938 in Freemanville, Alabama to Elnora Davis and Leslie Mims; she was a long time resident of this area. She was a faithful member of the Big Jackson Church of God but had recently joined Victory Life Christian Ministries under the pastorate of Razel Jones here in Big Rapids. Katie loved serving others and ministering to youth she will also be remembered for her witty humor and love of books. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Elnora Brooks of Baldwin, Michigan her children Bianca Davis, Leonard Witherspoon, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois, Cassandra Witherspoon of Grand Rapids, MI, Michael Witherspoon (Jennifer) of Waukegan, IL, Leslie Witherspoon, Solita Witherspoon of Big Rapids, MI and Jeffery Palmer of Seattle, Washington, her siblings,Lena Wilkerson, James Davis and Patricia Wiggins of Baldwin, MI, 32 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, a beloved niece, Emma Inman, a beloved daughter-in-law Patricia Witherspoon, a host of relatives, loved ones and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Leslie Mims, her husband, Leonard Witherspoon, Sr.,brother, Warren Mims, two daughters in law, Rose Witherspoon and Cynthia Witherspoon and two grandchildren, Alexis Brenan, Terry Moten, sister, Sadie Davis and nephew, Charles E. Davis. Homegoing will take place at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the St. Peters Lutheran Church, 408 Bellevue, Big Rapids, Michigan with Pastor Razel Jones of Victory Life Christian Ministries. Family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Merrill Township Cemetery in Bitley, MI.
