Keith Andrew Bailey's Obituary
Big Rapids - Keith A. Bailey, 60, of Big Rapids, formerly of Reed City, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 6, 1954 in Lansing, MI, the son of Harvey W. and Wave I (Houseman) Bailey. Keith attended Reed City High School and joined the United States Army in 1971. He proudly served his country for 21 years. Retiring from the military in 1992 as a Sergeant E-5. His service included many different jobs. His favorite being a Drill Sergeant and Purchasing Agent. He also served in Desert Storm and traveled throughout 38 different countries. Following his career in the military, Keith was a long haul truck driver. His travels took him through every state in the country. Keith enjoyed hunting, golfing with Brother Gary and friends and spending time with his granddaughters. Keith is survived by his wife Darla, two sons; Keith Bailey, Michael Bailey, four daughters; Elizabeth Bailey, Rebecca Szpiech (Jeremiah) McNeilly, Nicole (Dan) McClellan and Kylie Szpiech, plus three very special granddaughters, Ashlynn, Kendall and Abbi plus three grandsons. Also surviving are three brothers, Harvey (Sue) Bailey, Chuck (Shelia) Bailey and Gary (Gail) Bailey plus several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Connie Ames and Sandy Nordquist. A memorial gathering for Keith will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Reed City United Methodist Church with a luncheon served at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
