Kenneth "Ken" P. Keyt's Obituary
Lakeview-Kenneth "Ken" P. Keyt, age 96, of Lakeview passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Lakeview Terrace Assisted Living. He was born on December 23, 1924 in Greenville, the son of Leslie and Margaret (Schroder) Keyt. From a young age, Ken was raised in Lakeview where he attended school, graduating with the class of 1943. He was employed by Federal Mogul in Greenville for more than 40 years. Ken married Ardeth Laper at Rev. Hayes home in Lakeview on December 23, 1950, and they spent over 60 years together before her passing in April of 2011. Ken was a warm and caring man who enjoyed the simple things, traveling, fishing of all kinds, mushrooming, antique tractors, golfing, gardening, and socializing at McDonalds. He loved spending time with his family, eating candy, (especially chocolate) and had a soft spot for animals. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Ken's family would like to give a heartfelt "Thank-You" to his dedicated caregivers Barb Morris, and Judy Kruger, and to the wonderful staff at Lakeview Terrace.
Ken is survived by his children, Deanna (Miller) Hotchkin of Ionia, David (Annette) Keyt of Lakeview, Jill (Glenn) Simon of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Kelly Simon, Katie (Brian) Griffin, Nick (Tricia) Simon, Elizabeth (Eric) Connor, Bryan Keyt, Mark (Lori) Hotchkin, Greg Hotchkin; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including special nephews, Larry Loft and Gary Keyt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardeth; parents, Leslie and Margaret; sister, Lucille (Don) Pratt; and brother, Robert (Jane) Keyt; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Phyllis) Laper and Lee Laper.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Ted Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
