Kirt Alan Travis' Obituary
Kirt Alan Travis passed away peacefully at home November 11, 2021 after a five month battle with ALS. He was 59 years old. A funeral service will take place at Janowicz Family Funeral Home on Saturday, November 20th at 11am with a one hour visitation starting at 10am. A luncheon will be held directly after the service at the Mecosta VFW hall.
Kirt was deeply devoted to his role as a father and grandfather. While his children were growing up, he made it a priority to attend nearly every game they were involved in. Kirt kept everyone around him entertained with his elaborate story telling and witty sense of humor. He was a selfless man who gave his time to others freely, he was always concerned about the welfare of others. Kirt worked 29 years as a cement mixer driver and picked up many hobbies and skills throughout his life. He tinkered with various woodworking and building projects- it was nearly impossible for him to simply sit still. His greatest love in life was his family- with The Detroit Lions coming in at second place.
Kirt was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Virginia (Skidmore) Travis; and his sister, Jodie Hayes. He is survived by his companion of ten years, Jamie McCormick; children, Eric Godbey, Brittany (Erik) Eldred, Shane Travis; sisters, Robin Travis, Billie Welch; grandchildren, Mackenzie Godbey Laila Godbey, Sylvia Eldred, Madalyn Eldred; and numerous nieces and nephews.
