Kurt Knapp's Obituary
Kurt Daniel Knapp, age 70, of Amble, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 17,
2026, surrounded by his closest family at his daughter’s home in Reed City.
Kurt was born on January 17, 1956, in Lakeview, Michigan, to Jack and Phyllis Knapp.
He was raised in Amble, Michigan, a place he called home throughout his life. Rooted
deeply in family, hard work, and the land he loved, Kurt built a life marked by quiet
strength, devotion, and steady presence.
On May 18, 1979, Kurt married the love of his life, Vickie Lee Carter. Together, they
shared 47 years of marriage. Kurt’s greatest joy was spending time with Vickie, their
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially loved the holidays and special family gatherings, where being surrounded by those he loved meant everything to him.
Kurt worked for Gibson/Frigidaire in Greenville, Michigan, where he retired as a press operator. Outside of work, Kurt enjoyed the simple and meaningful parts of life: hunting, fishing, farming, and cutting wood. These were more than hobbies to him; they reflected his connection to the outdoors and the peace he found in familiar places.
Those who knew Kurt will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His love was often shown through everyday
things: being present, lending a hand, sharing stories, working side by side, and making sure his family knew they could count on him.
Kurt is survived by his beloved wife, Vickie; his son, Hazen Knapp of Amble; his
daughter, Gennie (Justin) Yost of Reed City; his brother, Bruce Knapp of Amble; his
sisters, Betty (Kirk) Voorhees of Amble and Janice Allen of Lakeview; his grandchildren, Layla, Levi, Gabriel and Dorian Yost, and Reese and Devin Knapp; and his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Phyllis Knapp of Amble; his brother, Darrel Knapp of Amble; and his sister, Louise Perez of Lakeview.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on
Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Lakeview.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Lakeview, with burial to follow at the Amble Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
