Kyle Robert Hamlin's Obituary
Lakeview-Kyle Robert Hamlin, age 51, of Lakeview passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids. He was born in Lansing on December 2, 1972, the son of Robert and Glenda (Arnett) Hamlin. Kyle was raised in Jackson where he attended Jackson High School, graduating with the Class of 1991. He continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Education degree from Spring Arbor University, a Master's degree from Eastern Michigan University and a specialist in Education degree at Central Michigan University. Kyle married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Beth Strawser on October 16, 1993, at the Jackson Church of God. Together they had four children, and in 2008 they made the decision to move their family to Lakeview, where Kyle was employed by Lakeview Community Schools, first as the Middle School Principal and then as Superintendent of Schools until 2020 when he accepted a position as Superintendent of the Montcalm County Intermediate School District. Kyle impacted the lives of many children and enjoyed his time in the school system. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, video games, family game nights and was known for giving the BEST hugs. Kyle was larger than life, always patient, calm and loving. He led by example and will be remembered for finding the best in everyone. He was quick to give practical advice and a second chance. Kyle loved nothing more than being a Pa to his grandchildren and spending time with his family. His passing will forever leave a 6'6" hole in the hearts of everyone blessed to have met him. Kyle is survived by his wife, Beth Hamlin of Lakeview; children, Cory (Paige) Hamlin of Lakeview, Bradley (Olivia) Hamlin of Lakeview, Zachary (Kori) Hamlin of White Cloud, Madison Hamlin of Lakeview; 3 grandchildren, Collin, Cameron, Olsen, plus one on the way; parents, Robert and Susan Hamlin of Aiken, SC; father-in-law, Richard Strawser of Jackson; mother-in-law, Paula (Rex) Engle of Jackson; sisters, Traci (Buddy) Adams of Jackson, Katy McMullen of Canadian Lakes, Kasey Hamlin, Emily Hamlin both of Aiken, SC; sisters-in-law, Susan Radziewicz of Kalamazoo, Jill (Gary) Harris of Mattawan; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda Hamlin. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Lakeview Middle School Gymnasium with Pastor Dave Hansen officiating. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, August 1, from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Middle School and again on Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
