Larry Robert Townes' Obituary
Larry Robert Townes, age 72, of Six Lakes, MI passed away on Sunday September 29, 2024. He was born on September 29, 1952, in Grand Rapids, MI to Robert and Anna (Seborn) Townes. Larry grew up in Cedar Springs and graduated from Cedar Springs High School in 1971. He was paralyzed in 1989 and worked hard to get movement back. His sons were shooting competitive archery at the time so he decided to shoot along with them, using his teeth to pull the bow back. He was proud of his accomplishments and was a member of the Disabled Archery Team. He traveled to England in 1998 (6th place finish), New Zeeland in 1999 (5th place finish), to Sydney Australia in 2000 (4th place finish) in the Paralympics and also to the Czech Republic (3rd place finish).Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine; 4 children, Beth (Jeff) Marsh of Big Rapids, Jason (Beth) Townes of Saranac, Austin Townes of Six Lakes, Mackenzie Townes of Howard City; grandchildren, Trenton Marsh, Corinne Marsh, Avery Marsh, Lilianah Townes, Nataliah Townes, Mardi Townes; great-granddaughter Kiernan Wright; siblings Christine Segard, Victoria Cooper, Cheryl (Gordon) Pratt, Susanne (Rodney) Mosher, Paul (Tami) Townes.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, James Townes.No services are scheduled at this time.
