Laurient Houston Noud's Obituary
Reed City - Laurient Houston "Larry" Noud Sr., 79, went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 27, 2018.
Larry was born in East Saint Louis, Illinois on May 19, 1938. Larry was a high school dropout, he married Joyce Arlene Thrower on June 15, 1957 and joined the United States Navy. He served in the Navy until 1974 and retired as a Chief. Larry and Joyce traveled a lot while he was in the service and had four children together; Laurient Noud Jr (Sally), Martin Lea Noud (Betty) Eugene Edward Noud and Stephanie Sue Noud. Larry left behind his wife, his four children, seven granddaughters, and two grandsons; Jessica, Paige, Emily, Joshua, Kelsey, Claytin, Melissa, Haley and Karleigh, four great grandsons, Zakary, Bekham, Joseph and Jax; two great granddaughters, Khloe and Kensley.Larry always believed that he had a mission in life and that mission was to help others. Upon retiring from the Navy, he earned his Masters in Education and became a teacher and worked for various high schools throughout the state; Ann Arbor-Pioneer High School, Howell High School and eventually retired from Newberry High School. Larry taught Welding, Metals, Auto repair, Auto CAD and wood working. Larry also served as the Luce/West Mackinac County Fair Board President, President for the Luce County Vietnam Veterans Chapter 597, an Advisor for the VICA club, managed Ma and Pa RV Park in Texas and most importantly as the head of a Food Pantry for First Baptist Church in Alamo, Texas. Anytime he heard that someone didn't have anything to eat, he would go buy them food because it bothered him that people would go hungry.
Larry loved to fish, hunt, build things and was an avid fan of Video games, Bowling, Golf and Darts. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made out to the Way of the Cross Ministries.
