Lawrence "Larry" Adelbert Beard's Obituary
Lawrence “Larry” Adelbert Beard, 83, of Six Lakes, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, with his family by his side. Born on August 28, 1942, to Floyd Raymond Beard and Dorothy Pauline Mitchell Beard, Larry grew up with strong values, a love for learning, and a spirit of service that guided his life.
Larry graduated from Greenville High School in 1961. In 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving proudly as a Supply Specialist during the Vietnam era until his honorable discharge in November of 1966. His time in the military shaped his character and instilled in him a lifetime of integrity and dedication. After returning home, Larry married the love of his life, Kathleen Ann Bailey, on December 3, 1966, beginning nearly six decades of devotion and partnership.
For many years, Larry worked at Tower Automotive in Greenville, retiring in 2001. He was also a proud Greenville retiree and VEBA member, enjoying the friendships and connection that came with it. Larry’s hands were always busy and his heart always full—whether working, serving, or enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Larry found joy in many hobbies, including crosswords, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He especially cherished trips to the Upper Peninsula, where he could sit in the sun and watch the ships pass by. He enjoyed classic Westerns—Gunsmoke being his favorite—and he was an active member of the Montcalm Heritage Village, where he ran the Train Depot. There, he met countless people, sharing stories and creating friendships that meant the world to him.
Larry was also a dedicated member of the Stanton American Legion, proud to stand among fellow veterans.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Beard; sons Douglas Beard of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Michael (Summer Tucker) Beard of Gowen, Michigan; brother John Beard of Williamston; brother- and sister-in-law Max (Penny) Bailey; nephew Chris (Amanda) Beard of Williamston; niece Jamie Ireton of Florida; and grandson Christopher Dougan of Hesperia, Michigan. He will be deeply missed by extended family, friends, and all who were blessed to share in his life.
Funeral services will be held at Entrican Bible Church, 3899 Grove Road NW, Stanton, MI 48888, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Macomber officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Entrican Bible Church Building Fund, Montcalm Heritage Village or Cannonsville Critters.
Larry lived a life of purpose, love, and quiet strength. His legacy will carry on in the hearts of all who knew him.
