Obituary
Blanchard- Leland Edward Withey, age 68, of Blanchard passed away at his home on Monday, November 12, 2018. He was born to Duane and Olga May Withey on July 10, 1950 in Edmore, Michigan. He was raised in the Edmore and Blanchard areas where he graduated from Montabella High School which was Blanchard High School previously. He then attended Montcalm Community College to further his education for his job. On November 13, 1976, he married Mary Jo Margaret Hough in Sylvester, Michigan. Leland was a dairy farmer until 2001. He then went to work for High Lean Pork in Remus and helped on the Hough Dairy Farm until 2013 when he retired.
Leland enjoyed getting ice cream and driving around the countryside to see what other farmers were doing, watching deer in the front yard, fishing and hunting. He played sports through school and played men's softball for over 25 years. In his later years, Leland enjoyed watching all sports on the TV.
Leland is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; sister Lavonne (Jim) Boerma, nephew Brian (Heidi) Boerma, niece Amy (Kevin) Finkenbinder; brother Lanny (Monica) Withey, nieces Jessica (Ryan) Aldridge, Jenna (Clayton) Irani; brothers-in-law Bill Hough (Jill), nephews Michael (Stacey) Hough and girls, John (Tracey) Hough, nephews Colton (Rachel) and Collin Hough; sisters-in-law Teresa (Ed) Liscombe, niece Maryssa Liscombe, nephew Davis Liscombe (Taylor); Beth Thomas, nephew Brandon (Abby) Thomas, niece Emily Thomas; Mickie (Dan) Fredricks, nephews Cody (Kayla) Woolworth and Conner Woolworth. Leland is preceded in death by his parents Duane and Olga "Susie" Withey.
Service for Leland will be 1 pm Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore. The family will receive friends Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Brigham Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
