Lenora Kathleen "Kitty" McDonough's Obituary
Big Rapids Lenora Kathleen Kitty McDonough, 83, of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, April 4, at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born February 20, 1925, in Milstead, Alabama, the daughter of Frank H. and Katie Jo (McDonald) Pierce. In 1947, she married L.L. Duff McDonough, and they moved to Big Rapids in 1952, where they lived since. A Registered Nurse, Kitty was the Day Nursing Supervisor at Big Rapids Community (later Mecosta County General) Hospital for 23 years. She was also a long-time member of the United Church of Big Rapids, the F.C.E., and was an avid supporter and sponser of Relay for Life. Her husband Duff preceded her in death on July 31, 2005. Surviving are 2 sons, Harry of Reed City, and Mark (Johanna) of Big Rapids; 1 daughter, Kathy Hooley of Big Rapids; 6 special grandchildren, Brandon and Whitney McDonough, Aubrey, Casey, and Kyle Hooley, and Melody McDonough Brann; 1 sister, Betty Ritchie of Montgomery, AL; a sister-in-law Dora (Russ) Morse of Holt; and many nieces and nephews. Kitty was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Karen Lee and Vickie Lynn, 2 sisters, Bena Hill and Ann Hudgins, and a brother Frank Pierce. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the United Church of Big Rapids, with Rev. Jon Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Relay for Life may be left at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, where Kittys family will greet friends today (Monday) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and at the church after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
