I always knew Grandma to be the best example of "simple living". That is to say, she never needed much. She was content with what she had and who she had to share it with, and I really admired that about her. She had endless love to give to her family, and her handmade gifts passed on over the years have become priceless treasures.
My fondest memory may be when we visited her at the farm to do some work on her cabinets. I noticed a strip missing from her floor transitioning from the kitchen toward the living room. I pointed it out, and said we could fix that, too. Grandma looked, said "Huh" and went outside to the side of her house. She ripped a piece of trim off the side of her house to lay down on the floor! It was so unexpected and we were all laughing at what just happened.
Grandma, I will love you always. Thank you for all that you've done. I miss you, but there are gentle reminders that you are still with me, when I know where to look.
