Leona Marie T'Niemi's Obituary
Leona Marie (Morien) T'Niemi, 94, of Big Rapids, passed away November 29, 2019. She was born in Wausau, WI, on May 18, 1925, to the late Anton and Augusta Morien. She moved to Rockland, MI, as a teenager and graduated with the class of 1944.
On September 15, 1945, she married William T'Niemi, in Ontonagon, MI, where they lived for 66 years.
Leona was an excellent baker, an avid reader, a great seamstress and she had a 'green thumb' with her plants. Her aloe plants are prolific!
Leona is survived by her children: Priscilla (Stephen) Gehrig of Shreveport, LA. Sharon (Doug) Doxsee of Bitely, MI, Diana (Roy) Tuttle of Essexville, MI, and Bill (Nora) T'Niemi of Twin Lakes, MI ; 8 grandchildren: Christopher (Keri Dismukes) Doxsee, Dyan (Thomas Black) Doxsee, Lynn (Efrain) Perez, Anne T'Niemi, Emily T'Niemi, Nicole (Richard Cantley) Tuttle, Erin (Stephen) Kazmierski, and Jennifer (Austin) Baker and 9 great grandchildren, Bella, Ansu and Mateo Perez, Madeline and Wesley Kazmierski, Felix and Eleanor Cantley and Everett and Lorelei Baker. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine Lampinen, and 4 sisters-in-law, Mae Morien, Mabel Morien, Judy Colby and Betty Rutila and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband William in 2003, her parents, her brothers, sisters, and their spouses, Anton (Delephine) Morien, Oscar (Ann) Morien, Joseph Morien, William Morien, Edward Morien, Helen Morien, Phyllis (Arthur) Tapani. Also, brothers and sisters-in-law: Hank Lampinen, Edwin Lampi, Eslie (Kay)Lampi and Ellen Lampi, Elma (Frank) Olewinski, Edward (Kay) Niemi, Robert (Marge) Tuoriniemi, Ralph Colby, Paul Rutila, and June (Duane) Baukus.
Graveside services will be held in Ontonagon in the summer of 2020.
