Letizia Lydia Lind's Obituary
Rochester, MI - Letizia "Letty" Lind (nee Majorana / Maiorano), of Rochester, MI, formerly of Big Rapids, went to rest peacefully in the love of Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 after 95 years of a blessed life. She was born May 6, 1923, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Nicola and Carolina (nee D' Onofrio) Maiorano.
Letty lived most of her life in Michigan; however, she gained naturalized U.S. citizenship as a "War Bride" when she married Richards "Dick", her husband of 63 years. Together they were life-long and active members of the Lutheran Church, dedicated themselves to their family, and travelled extensively in the U.S. and around the world.
Letty's love of serving others was evident in her volunteer work, sewing quilts, layettes, clothing, wheelchair bags, and lap robes for Lutheran Social Services and other Christian missionary groups. After she moved from Big Rapids to Rochester, she enjoyed volunteering many hours mending books at Rochester Hills Public Library.
Letty is survived by her children, Christine (Robert) Hage, Caroline Stern, Richard (Anne Marie) Lind, and Catherine (Larry) Montsinger; grandchildren, Paul (Betsey) Hage, Andrew (Kathy) Hage, Myra Stern, Christa (Brad) Stern-Lubahn, Paul (Heidi) Stern, Alexander and Angelique Lind, Liana (Scott) Talaski, and Luke (Lorianne) Montsinger; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Mason, Jack, Kylie, Alivia, and Esther Rose.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richards "Dick" Lind who died in Christ in 2010. Those going before her also include her parents; brothers Giuseppe and Edigio; sister Grazia; her son-in-law Dr. Richard Stern, and grandson Richard Stern Jr.
A memorial service will take place in Rochester Hills at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in December when her whole family can gather together. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in her name to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids (726 Fuller Ave. Big Rapids, MI 49307) or Rochester Hills Public Library (500 Olde Towne Rd. Rochester, MI 48307). Care and arrangements entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
