Letty Jane Scott's Obituary
age 85, of Lakeview, MI, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Lakeview Terrace. Letty was born October 16, 1929 in Lakeview, the daughter of Louis and Freida (Veck) Laper. She was raised in Lakeview and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1947.
Letty married the love of her life Bernard Jack Scott on June 4, 1950 at the Congregational Church of Lakeview.
Letty was employed as a book keeper for both Lakeview Lumber and the Moon Agency. She was the Cato Township Treasurer for over thirty seven years. Letty was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakeview and enjoyed church activities. She was involved in the Altar Guild and was the church organist for many years. What touched her heart most of all was reaching out to others and being a care giver to many. Her many hobbies included working, golfing, reading, sailing, and boating with family. Time spent with family was what she treasured most.
Letty was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Freida Laper, and her twin sister Betty.
Letty will be deeply missed by her husband Bernard "Jack" Scott of 65 years; her son Dan (Mary) Scott of Clarkston, MI; two grandchildren Brooklynn and Ryan Scott, both of Clarkston; her dear sister Enna Jorgensen of Grand Ledge and family; special nieces: Bill (Tonya) Porter, Renee (Mark) Chmiel and daughter Caroline, Don (Paula) Reichle and son Will, and Ralph (Amy) Reichle and sons Charlie and Henry; her church family, and by the community of which she gave of her time and many kindnesses.
A celebration of Letty's life will take place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakeview, Michigan with Pastor Steven Voelkers officiating on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for Letty will be one hour before the service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. All are invited to a luncheon following the service at the church located at 8890 Tamarack Rd. Lakeview, Michigan. Memorial contributions in Letty's memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Altar Guild.
