Lewis Emmett Jones Sr.'s Obituary
Lakeview - Lewis Emmett Jones Sr., age 75, of Lakeview, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, with family by his side. Lewis was born on December 15, 1946, in West Grove, Pennsylvania, the son of Roy Bruce and Muriel Bessie (Burnard) Jones. He was raised in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Florida, before moving to Detroit, Michigan at the age of 15. Lewis graduated from Detroit Public Schools. Lewis met a young lady who was destined to be his wife, Rose Ann Hackett, on one Christmas Eve in Detroit, where he lost at drag racing against her.Lewis and Rose' marriage was blessed in Detroit at St. Charles Catholic Church, and they were married on March 27, 1965, in Ferndale, Michigan. Upon moving to Lakeview, Lewis furthered his education receiving an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Montcalm Community College. He was employed as a Mechanic for over forty years in Detroit, Greenville, Big Rapids, and Blanchard, though his favorite employer was Merritt's Car Sales in Greenville. Lewis also worked security for the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, and for the Guardian Security Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and mushrooming. Lewis loved his family and considered that to be his greatest accomplishment.
Lewis is survived in death by his wife Rose Ann Jones of Lakeview; two sons Lewis Jones Jr., and Chris (Tonya) Jones both of Lakeview; two grandchildren Brittany (Bobby) Ruff, and Brandon Jones; treasured friends Clayton and Barb Cole and many more friends and church family.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Muriel Jones; daughter-in-law Sarita Jones; and one granddaughter Sara Jones.
Mass for Lewis will be Monday, August 22 at 11:00 A.M. St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lakeview with Fr. James VanderLaan officiating. The family will greet friends for visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in the Village of Lakeview Cemetery following Mass. Those wishing to contribute in Lewis's memory are asked to consider St. Francis De Sales Church.
