Lewis Leonard Turco's Obituary
White Cloud-Lewis Leonard Turco, 86, of White Cloud, formerly of Big Rapids passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014. He was born in Port Huron, MI, the son of Samuel and Mary (Petrosi) Turco. Lewis grew up in Yale, Michigan and earned his Bachelor Degree at University of Michigan and Masters/Specialist degrees at Michigan State University. He taught history along with coaching baseball, football and basketball at Big Rapids for many years. Lew retired as Assistant Superintendent. He loved flying. He got his private pilot license in high school when he and his brother bought their first plane. Lew flew well into his 80's. He is survived by his two children; son Timothy (Pamela) Turco of Pine Mountain, GA, daughter Tia Brown of White Cloud, 6 step sons and daughters; James, Jim, John (Karen) Willette, Lori Kieleszewski, Joseph Willette, Jeffery (Carie) Willette, 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Lew was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jeanie in 2011, step-daughter, Linda Willette plus one sister, Marion Brewer, brother, Richard Turco. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Edwin Snook officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Big Rapids High School Sports Boosters may be left at the funeral home, where Lew's family will greet friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and prior to service on Tuesday.
