Lloyd Merle Whitmer's Obituary
Lloyd Merle Whitmer age 91, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at his home in Lakeview, MI with family at his side. Lloyd was born October 03, 1924 in Walkerton, IN the son of Henry and Louise (Corle) Whitmer. Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to the former Theresa Gauthier on December 18, 1952 in LaPorte, IN.
Lloyd retired from C & O Railroad after 30 dedicated years. He was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the Lakeview VFW Post 3701. Lloyd was a very avid hunter and huge Notre Dame Fan. He especially enjoyed antiquing; he was an original American Picker. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family; especially his great-grandchildren.
Lloyd is survived by his children; Deb (Craig) Emery of Ada, MI, Bill (Pam) Whitmer of Orange City, FL and Beth Huested of Sidney, MI, grandchildren; Matt and Jon Emery, Ashley (Craig) McIntosh, Justin, Ryan (Jasmine) Whitmer, Sarah (Chad Peterman), Chris Gachter, Cody and Stephanie Huested, great-grandchildren; Niah, Sophie "Tornado", Kendal, Evie, Olivia, Harper and Caiden. Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife; Theresa, 2 sons; Jim and Andy, son in-law; Craig Huested and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, December 02, 2015 at 11AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Lakeview, MI with Father Lou Anderson to officiate.Interment to follow in the Lakeview, Cemetery. Visitation will take place Tuesday, December 01, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 from Brigham Funeral Chapel-Lakeview. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
