Logan Dustain Groot's Obituary
Logan Dustain Groot, 18, of Morley, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on January 2, 2007, the son of David Groot and Angela (Burden) Groot.
Logan attended the Morley-Stanwood School and was known by everyone for his big heart, contagious smile, and fearless spirit. He was a hard worker, always ready to lend a hand, and was never more than a phone call away if someone needed him. He loved being outdoors—boating, fishing, playing disc golf, or just spending time in the fresh air with family and friends. He especially loved taking his brothers out fishing and making memories together.
Logan was a proud dad to his daughter, Payton, and was devoted to his family and his girlfriend, Gracie Schuberg. He loved his trucks, goofing around, and making people laugh. With his curly blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and bold personality, Logan could light up any room he walked into. He lived life to the fullest and embodied his favorite saying: “Go big or go home.”
He is survived by his parents, David and Angela; his brothers, David, Preston, and Colton Groot; his sister, Kailey Groot; his beloved daughter, Payton; and his girlfriend, Gracie Schuberg. Also surviving are his grandparents, Teresa Groot, Theresa Jackson, Eddie Burden, and Dusty Spence; his aunts, Jessica, Katrina, Jaclyn, Jamie, Nena, Marie, and Stephanie Fitzgerald; his uncles, Rob (Danielle) Groot, Mike (Jamie) Groot, and Dallas; nephews, Jaxson and Weston Groot; cousins, Brody, Elizabeth, Emma, Michael, Gavin, Madelyn, Gage, Andrew, Josh, Gabe, Ally, and Kristin; special close friends—Little T, Caiden, Mark, Mikey, Tony, Jacob, Kenny, and many, many more friends.
Logan was preceded in death by his grandfather Bob Groot.
Logan will be remembered for his adventurous soul, his kindness, and the way he made every moment count. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at The Woods Free Methodist Church in Stanwood. Logan’s family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m., on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
